Gluta-C Intense Whitening Body Scrub Review

I just ran out of a body scrub so I've recently wandered around Watsons and looked for different drugstore body scrubs until I decided to try this one from Gluta-C. This was the first time I am going to try something from the brand so I was so excited. Also, I'm really into trying out different products as of the moment as I wanted to gauge which product works best for my skin type. It's actually one of my hauls last month (check out my hauls by clicking the 'hauls' tab on my homepage), and finally, I get to start using it weeks ago.

To start off...let me first commend all the packaging of Gluta-C products. Hahah! I don't know if you find them cute, but I just do! The body scrub comes in a tub containing 120g of product which isn't bad considering that it only retails for P99! This is the cheapest among all the other Gluta-C full size products. For a student like me, price is really the verdict of whether to buy a certain product or not. Since I've gone to Watsons for over a hundred times and a hundred more times looking through this product, I've finally been able to buy myself a tub and post a review for it!

What I like about the packaging is that it has all necessary information printed on the back part of the tub. The best thing about this product, for me, is the smell! It reminds me of my perfume from Elizabeth Arden. The smell of Green Tea is very prominent the moment you unscrew it. And it just... I mean...Oh my g! It's just so intoxicating and very relaxing I could go all day sniffing the formula until it runs out! That reminds me that this scrub has Green Tea, making it more ideal for tired skin that needed both physical and mental de-stressing. However, if you aren't so much of a Green Tea fan, you'll find the scent quite strong and bothering.

When you open the tub, you'll see that the formula is very creamy and thick. The scrubs are so visible that you might think it's harsh on the skin but it's actually the other way around. The creamy formulation moisturizes the skin and the grainy texture is abrasive enough to slough away dead skin cells. It really smoothen skin's rough areas in just minutes after application!

According to the packaging, it contains Glutathione, Vitamin C, and Papaya Enzyme, all known effective as skin lighteners. For the lightening effect, however, I noticed that my skin lightens a bit although I cannot say it's because of this scrub since I'm using it together with a kojic soap and a lightening lotion (not Gluta-C Soap though). Although it's nice to know that it works well with different brands of product. It doesn't sting or dry out my skin and doesn't cause me any allergic reactions. I guess it's hypoallergenic lol (not mentioned).

Gluta-C Intense Whitening  Body Scrub--What I like?
  • smells like green tea
  • not harsh on the skin
  • softens and smoothens skin instantly
  • availability
  • packaging
  • moisturizing
  • brightening

Gluta-C Intense Whitening  Body Scrub--What I don't like?
  • need using a lot of the formula for satisfying results making it less affordable since you tend to consume a lot for a single wash
  • my former scrub is still better
  • although I like the packaging, I prefer it to be in a tube so the application will be much easier and hygienic
  • has artificial beads which are harmful for the environment

Verdict: I am quite satisfied with the product and the pros just outweigh the cons so this is good product in the market. However, my previous scrub which is St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub works better than this, hence, pricier. My favorite scrub retails for 250php but every grain is worth it. And I rather buy the latter. And for best results, use it together with Gluta- C Intense Whitening Toner Spritz, Gluta-C Intense Whitening Facial Night Serum and Gluta-C Intense Whitening Facial Day Cream.

Anyway, that's all! Btw, do you mind checking out my other Gluta-C products reviews? They are linked down below, just check them out! Happy blogging!

Swatch & Review: Bobbie Premium Nail Creme in Cheeky and Matte

Hello, guys!

I just wanted to share with you my current nail color! So it's been five days since I last removed my nail polish. I just wanted my nails to breathe for at least a few days since it has been months of constant polish changing which resulted to a really dark-stained nails. Ugh! Anyway, my nails are still stained but for a person who loves to paint her nails, it's really a torture for me not being able to search through my stash and look for that perfect-for-today shade! I think I just have to change my base coat, because it does not work in protecting my nails from dark polishes.

So for my manicure today, I use (in order of using):

L-R: Caronia Nail Hardener & Base Coat, Bobbie Premium Nail Creme in Cheeky, Caronia Fast-Dry Topcoat, Bobbie Basic Top Coat in Matte, and Caronia Kwik-Dry & Cuticle Conditioner

After applying base coat (I cannot paint my nails without a base coat. It kinda makes me feel naked, if it makes sense lol), I painted my nails with Bobbie Premium Nail Creme in Cheeky. I let it dry for at least 10 minutes. Then I apply the second coat of it. Allowed my nails to dry. Then, I applied the Caronia top coat for a glossier finish. Applied one coat of Bobbie Top Coat in Matte. Then the Caronia Kwik-Dry for faster drying and smudge-free nails! And then, tada!!! I now achieve a purplish gray nails! It also has microshimmers. Sorry, my camera just can't capture them! Huhuhu!

*Note: You can use either Caronia or Bobbie Top Coat. I just apply Caronia Top Coat because I think it will help prolong the life of my polish. Hahah!

Photos before applying the matte top coat:

Bobbie Premium Nail Creme in Cheeky--What I like:
  • affordable for only 36php
  • highly pigmented in just one coat (so far the best polish from Bobbie that offers me good color payoff)
  • widely available in any drugstores nationwide
  • toxic trio free
  • dries quickly
  • does not create bubbles or ugly streaks (needs skills)
  • the brush just easily fans out making application easier
  • doesn't chip easily
  • doesn't make my nails yellow
  • with cute holo microshimmers ( I swear it just looks cuter in person)

Bobbie Premium Nail Creme in Cheeky--What I don't like:
  • None

With matte top coat:

Bobbie Basic Top Coat in Matte--What I like:

  • gives my nails just the perfect matte
  • affordable for 36php also
  • formula's the same with other Bobbie Nail Cremes

Bobbie Basic Top Coat in Matte--What I don't like:
  • can be very streaky if you don't know how to apply polishes on your nails
  • dries quickly as I am still spreading the formula all over my nails

Verdict: Get yours now! If you love painting your nails often but do not want to spend a lot, this is your best option! It comes in wide variety of shades in which you could choose from! I often stumble upon seeing displays of Bobbie Nail Cremes in Watsons because all of the shades look great and you can hardly choose the best of the best!

Mini Haul: Gluta-C Products

Just recently, I have been addicted to beauty products and it makes me a loyal buyer/ 'suki' at Watsons! It was also at that moment when I was so into looking for whitening products since my swimming class from the recent semester (first sem) damaged my skin terribly. So I'm really having an operation: bring back complexion right now and hopefully everything would seem to reset like how it was before.

So...a couple of months ago (If I've got this right mental calculation), I have bought different facial products from Gluta-C. I haven't tried them yet right after I bought them because I was still using other products for my face but decided to give Gluta-C a try since they are quite pricier than any Glutathione-formulated goodies and I just thought that they are worth the price, so yeah, I am now currently using all of them! And I really wanted a good payoff since I spent my week-worth savings for these!

Here's my Gluta-C product hauls!!!

L-R: Gluta-C Intense Whitening Facial Serum (199.75php), Gluta- C Intense Whitening Body Scrub (99php), Gluta-C Intense Whitening Facial Day Cream (149.75), Gluta-C Whitening Toner (99.75php), and Gluta-C Insta-White Cream (not on the photo - 59.75php)

So that's my Gluta-C products hauls for my face! I will be posting individual reviews for each soon! Stay tuned!

Review: Bobbie Nail Polish Solvent and Correction Pen

For my January Haul, I included these two product from Bobbie--best known nail polish brand producing premium yet affordable nail cremes in the Philippines-- the Bobbie Nail Polish Solvent and Bobbie Nail Polish Correction Pen!

L-R: Bobbie Nail Polish Solvent in 30ml glass bottle and Bobbie Nail Polish Correction Pen in 5.5ml

If you love painting your nails like me, you've probably undergone this abominable moment when you found out that your once perfect (not too thick nor runny) nails polishes gone gooey, creating streaks and bubbles as you apply them on your nails. And you would be like, "How will I save them? Because I can't afford to lose one of my treasured bottles of nail polishes from my favorite brand!" And this would be the end of your dilemma.

What I like?

  • It's very affordable at 29php for a 30ml glass bottle. There was this Caronia Solvent as well and it's pricier than Bobbie since it retails at 35php for 15ml.
  • It has this plastic seal when you open the twist-able cap which prevents drying
  • It really dilutes your old thickened polishes
  • It's toxic-trio free
  • Available in many drugstores nationwide

What I don't like?
  • It's messy when poured into old nail polish bottles. I hope there's a medicine dropper along with this bottle to avoid spillage while transferring the liquid to the small craters of polishes.

Got shaky hands? Worry no more! Because that unwanted streaks and strokes on your skin can be easily removed with this correction pen from Bobbie! If you love trying out different nail arts and accidentally paint the part on your nails that should not be painted, they can be easily removed with this pen!As an amateur nail artist, it's my biggest challenge to make my nails look like done by a pro artist, and I think it's not impossible with the help of this product.

The felt tip looks really like colored pens.

What I like?
  • Affordable at 39php
  • Can be used easily since holding it is like holding a normal pen

What I don't like?
  • Can ruin my nail art

Would I buy these products again? Yes! The moment I'll stop buying Bobbie nail products is when my nails failed to grow anymore. Lol.

Review: San San Nail Polish Remover With Vitamin E

Admittedly, I am really into nail polish. I love changing my polish every 3-4 days, and removing the nail polish without drying my nails is really a challenge for me. Before I became aware of the effects of the different nail polish remover, I always buy the Jackie Nail Polish Remover in any drugstores or sari-sari stores nearby which retails for only 5php. It's so cheap that I don't mind changing my nail polish as often as I'd like since well, it's just 5php. But it makes my nails oh-so-dry! That is why I decided to give San San Nail Polish Remover with Vitamin E a try!

A few days ago, I ran out of my other San San Nail Polish Remover (the one that comes with pads) and it is pricier by at least 20php, so I decided to buy the nail polish remover in bottle instead. As you can see on the photo below, the San San Nail Polish Remover comes in cute baby blue plastic bottle. Anyway, sorry for the stained nails! I just removed my red polish. Hehe!

the oh-so-cute bottle
comes in twistable cap with narrow opening so as to avoid spillage

What I like?
  • cute and durable packaging
  • very affordable at 30php
  • available in any HBC stores nationwide
  • the scent is not that strong compared to nail polishes with acetone
  • with Vitamin E
  • acetone-free (non-drying)
What I don't like?
  • dries quickly just like any nail polish remover with acetone
  • hardly removes glittered polishes

Would I buy this again? Yes! But I'd love to try the Cutex Nail Polish Remover first to gauge which nail polish remover is the best!

Chic Nail Polish in Honeydew Green Swatch and Review

I am so loving my current nail polish! Haha! It makes my nails look so yummy that it makes me wanna eat them lol. They also remind me of those pears my mom loves to buy every new year. Anyway, here's what I used for my nails as usual! :)

From L-R: Jackie Nail Polish Remover in 30 ml (6php), Caronia, Nail Hardener and Base Coat (49php), Chic Nail Polish in Honeydew Green (33php), Caronia Fast-Dry Top Coat (49php), and Caronia Kwik-Dry & Cuticle Conditioner (49php)
 And here's how they look!

The final output! I used two thin coats to achieve this opacity!
What I love about the Chic Nail Polish is that they have a variety of shades in which you could choose from. I actually wanted to buy every single one of them since they do have a really amazing collection shades! I do not have any problem with the brush/applicator since it doesn't create streaks (it depends on how you apply the nail polish). It is also free from the toxic trio (toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate.) Moreover, Chic Nail Polishes are almost available in any drugstores and retail stores nationwide and one bottle costs only for as low as 33php!

There's just two things I don't like about this nail polish: the formula tends to become gooey easily and to create bubbles. I already used three bottles of Chic Nail Polishes and they are pretty all the same.

Happy blogging! xx

Review: Hortaleza Professional Hair Spa Treatment

As a beauty product junkie *ehem*, I always drop by at every beauty store if I have the time. (I wish I have all the time in the world haha!) Two months ago, I had my hair dyed in this favorite salon of mine. I also had their keratin treatment and they advised me to go back to their salon every month so that I could keep my hair smooth--since dyeing your hair could make your hair rough and frizzy because of the chemical content hair dyes have, I know all you are aware of that lol-- and well, I could not afford to get my hair pampered that often so I head to the HBC store, the nearest one from my place, to find something which I could use for my DIY hair treatment. Oh how I love DIYs, not just you get to learn beautifying yourself, but you could also save a lot!

Anyway, the HBC people (lol) told me that this Hortaleza Hair Spa Treatment is best for color-treated, rebonded and straightened hair. They told me how effective this product is but of course I know better not to believe until I tested it myself. And I wasn't disappointed! Thanks to them I got the chance to try the magic of this tub! Hahah! And I wanna thank them as well for patiently answering my questions until I brought the product all the way to the cashier. They are very accommodating as ever.

Hortaleza Hair Spa Treatment is available in 20g sachets (less than PHP20 I think?), 250g tub (for PHP153) and 500g tub (which retails for PHP200-PHP300). Should I have known at first that HBC has the bigger tub, I would have bought it instead since I could save more if that's the case. Well, talk about being practical. Heheh!

*I poured some honey on it for better effects, thus the tinted product.

What I like:
  • The price. It's very affordable (153php)
  • It lasts long. I bought it two months ago, and its still half full. (If my calculation is correct, buying the largest tub would save you more. This is 153php for 250g. The price of the sachet is 18php for 25g) I didn't buy the largest since it's not available the time I bought this.
  • The smell. Even after two days, the smell still linger in my hair! It's just so sad that I need to use it only once a week. I'm actually tempted to use it as my conditioner instead. Haha!
  • The effect! OMG! I love how it makes my hair feels so soft and smooth you can hardly notice it's a DIY treatment!
  • Exclusively available at HBC stores nationwide.

What I don't like:
  • It has parabens. Although it's not yet clear whether parabens are unsafe or not, it would still be better if we get to be conscious enough as our health is what's at risk here

Vaseline Healthy White UV Lightening Even-Tone Lotion Review

It was summer (ages ago) when got this uneven skin tone from swimming and other outdoor activities and it really freaked me out! I badly needed a lotion that would even out my skin tone and I don't know what to use anymore since there are lots of lotions that are stocked in the supermarket nowadays all claiming for the same benefits such as protecting, whitening, moisturizing, reducing aging, etc. And if you're like me, you'll probably think, which is the best for my skin? And yeah, you will never know unless you have tried them all!

I've tried so many lotions before such as Silka, Belo, Olay, Dove, etc. That summer, I was using Myra E (the red one), though it really smooth-en the texture of my skin, it didn't help in making my tone even. So it had been a problem of mine since then. And just recently, my mom did bought me this Vaseline Healthy White UV Lightening Lotion which is what I am going to review today.

Vaseline Healthy White UV Lightening Even-Tone Lotion
Bought for: Around P200
Bought from: SM Supermarket

What it claims:
Helps match your dark skin areas to tour lighter ones.

What I like:
-The packaging. It comes in pink or peach plastic packaging with a pump-like (i don't know what to call it) for better application.
-The formula. It has Vitamin B3 which is known to help for the improvement of skin moisturization, appearance of aging skin, and evens out skin tone. It has Triple Sunscreen as well to further protect your skin from harmful UV rays. It does not contain any harmful chemical as well.
-The texture. It's very light and creamy, although it does not dry fast enough.
The smell
-The price. You can avail this for less than 150php in watsons, sm supe, rmarkets, and other drugstores nationwide.

I apply this twice a day.

As for the 'matching' part, I have seen effects while using this product. I don't know if I should give the credits to this lotion for the brightening effects or to the soap I am currently using (I'm using Kojic soap). Nonetheless, they are a good combination that helps lighten my skin effectively in just three weeks! I am not really an outdoorsy person or someone who travels during vacation so that really helps a lot, I think, since using Kojic soap may increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun. I still don't achieve my dream skin tone yet, but I know, it's gonna be soon!

Review: Beauty Formulas Regenerating Hand Cream

I am an unica hija (only girl child) in the family, and if you think that is a good idea, hell, you are definitely mistaken because I am always asked to clean the house. I also wash the dishes sometimes, though it's my older brother's task. And because of the morning stresses and so much hand works every day, I felt like my hands became dry and rough, so I tried to look for products that will suffice the needed nutrients for my hands to go back to its normal smoothness.

I think I'm am getting less and less hopeful until I found this product! As my friends and I went to Watsons last month, I found this secret treasure I've been looking for all my life lol. So yeah, it's been months and months of trying new hand products for my tired and almost lifeless hands until I get to try this lotion from Beauty Formulas!

So today I am going to review the Beauty Formulas Regenerating Hand Cream: An Overnight Beauty Care For Hands!

What it claims: Beauty Formulas Regenerating Hand Cream helps to restore and improve the condition of your hands and nails by working  through the night. A rich non-greasy cream formulation which is rapidly absorbed into the skin with added benefits of micro pearls containing Vitamin E and A to moisturize hands and nails. Leave skin soft, smooth, and supple!

One thing I love about it is the color of the packaging. It's a deep purple and I love purple! It's also very convenient to use since it is squeezable and comes in a tube packaging---what I always love in beauty products.

The color of the lotion is opaque white with micro-beads. You can see the single bead on the formula. Hahahaha, The product has very few of these beads. I think if I open the tube, I will be able to count all the beads inside. Kidding.

I guess the formula is best for those who loves nail polish like me since nail polishes and removers make the nails dry and dull! For only 124php per tube, the price is way cheaper than other nail moisturizer/treatment!

The formula is very thick and moisturizing. You can already see the effect the first time of application.

What I love most when applying the lotion into my hands is the time when I get to watch the beads dissolve and blend into the formula. And the best thing is felt the next morning! You'll definitely notice that your hands become softer and smoother you'll hesitate to wash or scrub it as you shower!
